Colitis is a condition in which there is inflammation in the lining of the large intestine (colon). The symptoms are bloating, blood in the stool, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Patients may also experience fatigue, dehydration, fever, weakness, and dizziness.
It can be caused by infections, reduction, or loss of blood supply to the intestine, entry of lymphocytic white blood cells in the intestine and inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome.
Simple And Easy Home Remedies For Colitis:
1. Water And Lemon Juice- Detoxification:
Patients of colitis are advised to drink lots of water as this will detoxify the body as well as get rid of dehydration. Drink 10-20 glasses of water throughout the day. You can also add a teaspoon of lemon juice to your first glass of water in the morning.
2. Peppermint Essential oil:
Popularly used to add flavour in meals, peppermint oil is often used medicinally for digestive and intestine related maladies; specifically irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and diarrhea. Peppermint oil will also directly work on the colon and will ease the inflammation. Add 4-5 drops of the oil to a teaspoon of your cooking oil and cook your meals with this.
The Licorice plant is used in quite a few remedies. It gets rid of free radicals that induce inflammation in the colon. Boil the licorice root in water for 2-4 minutes. Crush them to paste and extract the juice. Add one glass of coconut water and one teaspoon of honey to the drumsticks juice. Mix well and drink once a day.

Fish oil can also be diluted with other cooking oils. Add a teaspoon of fish oil to your meal or mix a teaspoon of fish oil with a teaspoon of white cooking oil.
